Automation Teardown #2: the Friday client report, for agencies.
Every account needs a status update, and getting there means opening half a dozen tabs before anyone writes a word.
The manual reality
Updates live scattered across the PM tool, the ticket queue, the analytics dashboard, and email threads. Someone — usually the account manager — cross-references all of it by hand and turns it into something a client can read.
How we'd build the agent
- A scheduled trigger fires Friday at 3pm. The agent pulls a snapshot from each connected tool's API — tasks shipped, tickets opened and closed, traffic and conversions — and normalizes it into one per-account record.
- It diffs that snapshot against last week's, so the draft leads with what actually changed instead of boilerplate.
- A language model writes the summary in the agency's own template and tone, and every line has to trace back to a source — a ticket, a task, a metric. No source, no sentence.
- If a tool is unreachable or the data looks stale, that section says so instead of guessing.
Drafts land in a review queue. An account lead edits and sends every one — nothing reaches a client unreviewed. And a weekly sample gets compared against what leads actually sent, to catch drift early.
Honest sizing
Several hours per account manager per week, live in a week or two.
